Job ClassesDD StatementsFor a South system type JOB statement, ThruPut Manager on Titan automatically converts existing South job classes into the appropriate Titan job class. For more information on Titan job classes, see the Titan Batch & JCL page.USER=
- South system job classes A, B, and F become Titan job Class X (express),
- South system job classes C, D, E and H become Titan Class L (long).
For a Titan JOB statement, ThruPut Manager determines job class by the amount of time a job takes.
- A job that needs 100 seconds or less is assigned Class X.
- All other jobs are assigned Class L.
- On Titan, TIME is specified in standard IBM terms of minutes and seconds. To ask for 100 seconds, code the TIME=(1,40) parameter on the JOB statement (this will be assigned to Class X).
- If the CLASS parameter is specified on the JOB statement, the parameter is ignored.If you code USER=iii on your JOB statement, you will have to change it to USER=aaaaiii. You can change your jobs on the South system now and the first 4 characters (aaaa) will be ignored. This will permit your South system JOB statement to work on both South and Titan.
Tape ParametersJES Statement Changes on TitanWhen you create a new tape data set you must specify either RETPD= or EXPDT= . Although the RETPD and EXPDT parameters are not supported on the South system, you can change your JCL running on the South and the parameters will simply be ignored.UNITnames
Example 1: EXPDT
//dd1 DD DSNAME=userid.dsname, DISP=(NEW,KEEP),UNIT=TAPE,
In this example, the tape data set will be kept until the 33rd day of 2006.
Example 2: RETPD
//dd2 DD DSNAME=userid.dsname,DISP=(NEW,KEEP),UNIT=TAPE,
In this example, the tape data set will be kept for 35 days.The chart below shows the Titan UNITnames that South system UNITnames automatically translate to.
South System UNITname Automatically translated to Titan UNITname UNIT=FILE UNIT=LONGTERM UNIT=TMP UNIT=TEMP UNIT=MSS UNIT=NOBACKUP
Forms and Printing
These JES statements produce a JCL error and will cause your job to fail. (See Forms & Printing below for information on how to change your JCL.)
The statement below is handled differently on Titan:
- /*NOTIFY userid -- Titan userid required -- you cannot leave it blank.
The following JES statements are not supported on Titan and will be ignored.
- /*ROUTE PUNCH
- /*NOTIFY (with no parameters)
- /*ROUTE XEQ MSS
- /*ROUTE XEQ VTAM1
- /*ROUTE XEQ ISPF
If you use any form other than STD (i.e., continuous fan-fold paper), then you will have to code FORMDEF= and PAGEDEF= (or FCB=) in addition to FORMS=.
Note: The last 2 digits of a PAGEDEF indicate how many lines are printed per inch and the previous digits indicate the length of the page. For a list of valid PAGEDEFs, see the Titan Batch Processing manualsection 2, under "Cut-Sheet Forms."
/*JOBOUT and /*DDOUT statements are not available on Titan. The chart below shows how to substitute the OUTPUT statement for /*JOBOUT and /*DDOUT.
South System Use this on Titan /*TITLE //name OUTPUT DEFAULT=YES,JESDS=ALL,TITLE='my title text' /*JOBOUT FORMS=form //name OUTPUT DEFAULT=YES,FORMS=form

The following example shows how to use the OUTPUT JCL statement:
//OUT2 OUTPUT COPIES=2
//DS DD SYSOUT=A,OUTPUT=*.OUT2
WYLBUR Tool to Scan Your JCL
TitanPrep is a new WYLBUR Enter command that scans your South system JCL and shows you the changes that may be needed to run it on Titan.Displaying and Purging Jobs through the Web
Using the Web-based Display or Purge Jobs facility, you can locate your batch jobs, fetch the output, and purge jobs.
RJE Job Submission and Remote Printing
If you use a remote job entry (RJE) workstation to submit jobs to the central facility, you must change the SIGNON control statement in order to communicate with Titan. The password stays the same.
The format of the SIGNON control statement for Titan is:
/*SIGNON NIHTTNRMTnnn passwordwhere nnn is the remote terminal workstation number and password is the password assigned by CIT.
NIHTTN must begin in column 10, RMTnnn in column 16, and password in column 73.
For More Information
For information on batch processing and job control language, refer to "Remote Job Submission" in the Titan Batch Processing manual.
