After more than 45 years of reliable, efficient service to the NIH community and many other government agencies, NIH plans to retire its mainframe computing services, including the Titan legacy and zLinux platforms, ideally by September 30, 2015.

Why NIH is Retiring this Service

Within the next six months, some of our larger customers are planning to migrate to other technologies. As a result, our projections indicate that very soon the cost to operate the mainframe service will increase significantly.

Options for our Customers

  • Move applications to other service providers
  • Delete datasets/applications as they are no longer needed
  • Authorize CIT to delete your data without review

We want to hear from you and make sure we address your concerns. Please contact the NIH IT Service Desk with your questions and requests for assistance.
